Home Power System To Save Electricity Usage & Household Expenses

February 12, 2009 · Filed Under Home Power Generation

Home power system - wind and/ or solar power system is a way of generating alternative energy to reduce electricity consumption. These are two most common ways of harnessing alternative energy for home use. The sun and the wind are bountiful and free and their energy can be converted to electricity to power a house. Both power systems could be used separately or in conjunction with each other.

Solar power is the cleanest energy available. The home solar power system utilizes solar panels, converters, cables, cables, and photovoltaic cells for electricity generation; and heating coils and tanks for water heating. These solar panels use photovoltaic or silicon cells, and they can be easily installed in the roofs of houses. These solar panels have been made easier to handle and install by making it a lot more lightweight.

Wind turbines are generally more affordable than solar power but are less available to urban dwellers. They use blades and rotors for the wind power system. Several location issues need to be considered when installing the wind power system, including the ground elevation, wind speed and potential obstruction.

Technological advances are making these home power systems more efficient and affordable too. For example, do-it-yourself energy kits has reduced the expenses and make installation easy to the skilled DIY home owners. In addition, home power plants are now being used in some Japanese homes. Micro-CHP or Combined Heat and Power Systems utilize internal combustion engines, a generator, a heat exchanger module, and a furnace. Coal, oil, and natural gas are some of the fuels used. CHP is strictly not a green alternative, but they still help to reduce energy consumption. It eliminates the wasted energy from power lines from the power plant to your house.
